History

Dr. John W. Settle opened the first Radiology office to serve the Olympia area in December of 1945. Dr. William Mikkelsen joined the practice in 1963 and together, he and Dr. Settle provided diagnostic and therapeutic radiologic services to a four county area that included five hospitals and two clinics.

Dr. Settle soon retired.  In 1973 Dr. Gary Yim joined Dr. Mikkelsen and together, they officially launched South Sound Radiology (SSR).

Today, SSR is a group of 19 Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologists with a variety of subspecialties, still located in the scenic city of Olympia. The practice is now entirely digital and is the first in the South Sound to offer a complete line of breast health imaging and interventional care.
