Breast Biopsies

What is a Needle Core Biopsy?

When a breast abnormality is detected by physical exam, mammogram or other related procedure, it is not possible to know if the abnormality is a benign or malignant finding unless tissue from the area can be examined by a pathologist who specializes in the microscopic analysis of tissue for the purpose of diagnosis.

Breast needle biopsies obtain small cores of tissue from the abnormal area in your breast which are then examined by a pathologist who will determine a final diagnosis.

Breast needle biopsies are performed routinely in our office on an outpatient basis. No sutures are required and you can resume your normal activities within 24 hours.
