Ultrasound
What is Ultrasound?
Ultrasound is the diagnostic use of sound waves to create images of organs and tissues in the body. Ultrasound produces real time images of your organs (kidneys, liver, gallbladder, breasts etc.) and detects motion such as blood flowing. This helps your clinician make a quick and accurate diagnosis by detecting a wide variety of abnormalities and conditions.
Abdominal UltrasoundAn abdominal ultrasound produces an image of the organs and structures in the upper section of the abdomen. |
Gallbladder UltrasoundA gallbladder ultrasound is a limited abdominal ultrasound which includes images of the gallbladder, biliary system and liver. |
Pelvic UltrasoundThe uterus can be sonographically imaged in two ways: transabdominally and transvaginally. The transabdominal scan is obtained by moving a transducer back and forth over the skin of the lower abdomen. The transvaginal scan utilizes a narrow transducer placed into the vagina to obtain detailed images of the uterus and ovaries. |
Obstetrics (OB) UltrasoundAn obstetrical ultrasound images the fetus, takes measurements, and documents fetal anatomy. |
Thyroid, Carotid Artery and Breast UltrasoundThese exams do not require any patient preparation and images are acquired of the specified anatomy. |
